Setting The Time Zone

 

Overview

A custom time zone can be set on the company, location, or individual employee level. The time zone set for your company account will be the default time zone for every staff member and will determine what time zone schedules and time sheets are created in. If you have employees in different time zones, you can set their custom time zone so they can view their shifts & time sheets' times based on their local time zones.

Company Account Time Zone

Your company account's time zone is set by default based on your location when the account is created. The account Admin or a manager can update it afterward by going to the tab Settings - > Account Settings - > Timezone. Select the time zone and click 'Save Settings' once done. 

Changing the company account's time zone setting will adjust shift times on the schedule. If you are using Time Clock module, time punches are also adjusted.

Employee Time Zone

If your employees are in another time zone, the employee or a manager can set a different time zone for their profiles. Changing the employee profile time zone will override the company time zone for that particular employee and will translate shifts or time sheets times to the employee time zone. 

Go to the tab Staff - > Select employee - > Edit Profile - > Time Zone. By default, this field is set to Location/Company default.

Location Time Zone

If you have multiple locations in different time zones, you can setup a custom time zone for each location at the of creating a location. The account Admin or a manager can also update it afterward by going to the tab Staff - > Locations & Positions.

If employees' custom time zone is not set for their profiles, you can set the Primary Location on employee profile and the time zone of that primary location will be the default time zone for that employee.

Things to know

  • Company time zone is the default time zone set for every employee profile, by default. 

  • Once a Primary Location field is set for a profile, the primary location time zone will be the new default/effective time zone for that profile. Employees will see the shifts & time sheets' times translated based on that primary location's time zone. 

  • If you set the 'Time Zone' field for a profile, this will become the default/effective time zone for that profile and will override company or primary location time zone. Employees will see the shifts & time sheets' times translated based on this custom time zone.
